EP 94: Minor League Tagging

So as a part of my collection I do grab ECHL gamers, specifically Worcester Railers and a few one-offs for other ECHL teams. I totally get the frustration from some with regards to collecting ECHL jerseys. For the Railers, the only way you know if a jersey is from the inaugural year is that on the white and blue jerseys there is an ECHL 30th anniversary patch on the back hem. On the alt orange from year 1... it's just the style and you have to trust the collector, as far as I know.
For current ones, for any you get during Dash auctions or in-person post-game auctions, they do give certificates of authenticity to go with the jerseys. Any of their raffled jerseys that are team-issued or game-issued tend to not come with CoA's. The jerseys themselves have no tagging for a set or year, outside of specialty years like their 5th anniversary having a shoulder patch, or for the orange alts where it's been a different style each year. Last, afaik, each jersey type is a single set worn all year as well (light, dark, orange alt, specialties). So this year I got a blue jersey that was worn for 15 games, an orange alt worn for 8 games, and I had to go through the schedule and social media posts to find what games each was worn in as none of that is tracked by the team. Same with stats for those games, but that's easy enough via the ECHL website and checking the game logs.
Retail wise, ECHL only sells replicas in team stores, at least from what I've seen. They've had some team issued blanks come up in Dash auctions now and then, but they never have the ad patches that only go on game issued/game worn jerseys. Specifically for the Railers, the issued blanks don't have the back hem ad patch or the Polar chest ad patch.
